Be part of the live audience for The Post Show season finale

Next week's edition (the December 8th show) of The Post Show on G4 will be an hour long show, and quite the season finale. I can't give away the details, but there will be some excellent guests from Heroes.

If you are in the Southern California area, you can still get into the live studio audience for the show, but you need to make your request ASAP. Drop a line to heroesclues@gmail.com as soon as possible, and I will get you in touch with the right people.

For more info about The Post Show, see this post.

DC and Ryan now regulars on The Post Show

Just a reminder to tune in to G4 this weekend (and every weekend, of course!)

In case you're not up to speed, G4 airs the current chapter of Heroes each Saturday night at 10:00pm et/pt, followed by the live, interactive Heroes wrap-up show, The Post Show, at 11pm.

If you miss Saturday's schedule, you can always catch the show when it repeats on Sunday at 7pm.

As this volume of Heroes soon draws to a close, the plot has certainly provoked a lot of questions. Watch as RyanGibsonStewart of HeroesWiki, and myself (DC from here at Heroes-Clues) discuss some of the biggest mysteries. We are now featured in each week's Conspiracy Theories segment.

G4 also provides many ways for YOU to participate in the discussion - via polls, live chat, video viewer mail, and more.

Oh, and of course we will also be running another Post Show trivia contest here at Heroes-Clues, starting Sunday at 8pm!

Word Balloon interview with Jeph Loeb

Thanks to Fil, for letting us know about an interview with Heroes co-executive producer Jeph Loeb, over at Word Balloon:

...about episode nine, and where the show stands from a production stand-point, due to the work stoppage caused by the WGA strike. Siuntres and Loeb discuss a wide variety of Heroes topics, from the possible fate of the spin-off series, Heroes: Origins, to what may be next for volume 3...whenever that happens.
Check out the full interview (audio), here. For a text summary, see this page.

Hana's further concern about the virus

New text from Hana:

Discovr more about the virus. It may lead us to deepr secrets within The Company. Follow my lead here: http://activatingevolution.org/
As last week's messages seemed to be a delayed notice for the previous update, this could likely be a reference to the videos added to this update, which included an Intro video and Parts One and Two. Three additional videos were later added:
  • Part Three
    Discusses the history of bioterrorism.
  • Part Four
Discusses steps in identifying a potential pandemic.
  • Part Five
    Discusses quarantining and isolating patients.

ETA: A new email (thanks to Alex for reporting this) confirms the reference, with the subject "Virus Expert Videos":
Dr. Suresh claims to be making new advancements in his studies on the Shanti virus, but his recent devotion to The Company makes his previous altruistic intentions somewhat questionable. I can only hope he is still doing the right thing. He has posted more expert videos on his website: activatingevolution.org. I believe the videos are supposed to help us in the understanding of the virus and its potential outbreak. You be the judge.
Three additional videos have been added:
There is also a new post at Hana's blog:
It seems that Dr. Suresh is updating his website more often than usual. Is he trying to help us learn more about the virus or mislead us into believing in The Company? I’m not sure who to trust anymore. I keep hoping for word from Drucker, but am only met by a silence so loud that I fear the worst.

This text just arrived from Hana:

The potential ov a virus outbreak is growing. Always remember to be cautious and keep safe. Learn about the virus here: http://activatingevolution.org/
Perhaps this is a reference to last week's update at the Activating Evolution site. Hana also made a reference to the virus in her blog last week, and a more direct reference to the site update in her blog today:
The more I learn about the Shanti virus, the more I'm scared. However, learning about what viruses are and what they can do is important in staying safe and out of harm’s way. Click on the link to learn more: http://activatingevolution.org/.

Fan Day gathering for the WGA today

If you are in the Southern California area and would like to show your support for the writers, today is your chance! An impromptu Fan Day gathering has been called by the WGA. Come to Universal at 11:00 AM to show fan support for the writers. Then head to NBC Burbank to join the rally featuring presidential candidate John Edwards.

From fans4writers.com:

Fans should gather at Universal Studios beginning at 11:00 AM. We have a customizable picket sign (pdf) you can use. Mingle with other fans, wave your signs, experience the thumbs-up and honking car horns of passing drivers.

Then, when the time comes, head to NBC Burbank, where many striking writers will be headed, in time for a larger strike rally to be visited by presidential candidate John Edwards beginning at 1:45 PM.

This is a relatively last-minute event, so spread the word far and wide. And keep an eye out here for future developments, because preliminary discussions are underway for a much larger Fan Day event to show the Companies just how much fans support the writers have.
For further details and updates, see fans4writers.com.

Interview with Jack Coleman at BuddyTV

Thanks to Ralph, over at BuddyTV, for letting us know about their interview with Jack Coleman (HRG / Noah Bennet).

Coleman talked about the writers' strike and its impact on the season, detailing a possible for timeline when Volume 3 might begin.

Follow this link for the full transcript and mp3 audio file of the interview.

Big Apple Con

Tim Sale, Hayden Panettiere, and Kristen Bell will all be attending The Big Apple Comic Book, Art, Toy & Sci-Fi Expo ("The National"), NYC’s longest running Comic Book & Arts Convention:

{New York, NY} - Mike Carbonaro presents the 11th Annual 2007 NATIONAL BIG APPLE COMIC BOOK, ART, TOY, & SCI-FI EXPO. This three-day pop-culture expo, November 16th thru 18th, will take place at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, on 7th Avenue at 33rd Street, directly across from Madison Square Garden. A gathering of fans and professionals, the expo features over 300 dealers & exhibitors, showcasing comics, toys, action figures, original art, videos, autographs, non-sports cards, TV & movie memorabilia, and much more.
To answer some of the questions that had been rolling in:
Hayden will be available on Saturday and Sunday, and Kristen will be there only on Sunday.

Hayden and Kristen will probably charge around $20-$30 per autograph. It is unconfirmed if there will be a limit on the number of items they sign. Photos are handled separately. Each of those two celebs will spend a certain amount of time at Froggy's photo booth, where for a fee (around $30), you can have a photo taken with her and an autograph on the photo immediately.

Tim Sale's autographs should cost less, and he will likely allow photographs at his table.

Tickets to the event are $18 in advance, or $20 at the door. There is also the option of a "Heroes pass," where for $100, you get ALL Three Days Pass Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 16th, 17th and 18th. This includes express VIP check-in, front of the line express for Hayden and Kristen, signed personal Froggy Photo-Op with one of them, and more surprises TBA, limited to 100 passes.

For further details and ticket orders, see bigapplecon.com

Supporting the writers - fighting for Heroes

Thanks to Nick, who contacted us about a way that Heroes fans can help their voices be heard on November 30th (the Friday before Chapter 11 is aired): A protest will be held outside NBC in Burbank, CA and will most likely start at 3:00 pm local time. The event will be held in support of the writers, requesting that NBC comply with their requests. Ultimately, the fans will be fighting for Heroes to stay on for the full season.

If you are not in the Burbank area (like myself) you can still show your support for the writers and the show via "1000 cranes for Heroes," a project started by some members of 9thWonders. See their MySpace or Facebook pages for details and sign-up. They are still in the organizing stages, so stay tuned for further details.

New interviews at Activating Evolution

At the Activating Evolution site, Mohinder has posted a new series of videos from an interview with two scientists: Laurene Mascola, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.P. - the Chief of the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program (ACDC) for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and Brit Oiulfstad, M.D. - a Veterinarian and Epidemiologist working as the Pandemic Influenza Coordinator for Los Angeles County-Department of Public Health (LAC-DPH) in the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program-Public Health Program.

The videos:

  • Intro
Introduces the scientists and discusses the role of animals in the spread of viruses. (Mr. Muggles, don't betray us!)
  • Part One
Discusses the spread of viruses vs bacteria.
  • Part Two
Discusses the introduction of West Nile Virus to the United States.

Credit goes to Mike for reporting this update.

Hana's concern about the Shanti virus

Thank you, madammina, for reporting Hana's new blog post

The Shanti virus is capable of more harm than I ever imagined. Maybe that’s why The Company has been keeping it quiet for so long. Linderman’s files are loaded with secrets. Hopefully, with Drucker’s help, more will continue to surface.

Tim Kring: 'We have a real finale'

As you most likely already know (and probably read here), due to the writers' strike, an alternate Chapter 11 was created. The chapter was originally intended to be the end of Volume Two ("Generations") which was to be followed, this season, by Volume Three. The alternate version would allow the chapter to be used as a season finale.

I know that a lot of us have been really disappointed with this news, however, it sounds like we still have a lot to look forward to: In an article from USA Today, Tim Kring let us know that the remainder of chapters for this volume will be a complete turnaround in pace. In fact, he mentioned, "They are among the absolute best we have ever done."

... the show's segmented structure will allow it to finish the current story before completed scripts are exhausted. Non-writing producers are finishing it with Kring on strike.

"In an oddly kismet kind of way, we have a real finale that could act, God forbid, as the end of Season 2," he says.

...read article for more (contains slight spoilers)

Says Kring: "We'll start Volume 3 with a lot more pizzazz."

"Create Your Hero" at NBC.com

Starting today, the NBC Heroes site has launched a Create Your Hero promotion. From our insider:

Heroes fans can go online on their computer or mobile phone and select characteristics for a new Hero, who will be built based on the most-picked traits. Each week, the Hero will evolve based on the fans' input, and he or she will be shown on air every Monday.
You can participate online and by cell phone using an enabled Sprint handset. Right now the promotion is in "Phase One" which will continue until December 10th. During this phase, participants will assist in the creation of one male and one female hero by answering pre-selected questions about the hero's attributes and characteristics.
"Phase Two" is set to begin around January 1st, and details on that portion will be posted in mid-December.

Writers' Strike implications; Tim Kring apology

I have been getting an inbox full of questions regarding the writers' strike, so here is what we currently know about its impact on the world of Heroes:

- HEROES: ORIGINS -
We announced earlier that the writers' strike claimed one of it's first victims before it even began -- stopping the production of Heroes: Origins. Fortunately, they are being careful to call it "indefinitely postponed" (as mentioned in our announcement). When addressing the situation on The Post Show last week, Tim Kring confirmed that it is NOT permanently off the table.

- ALTERNATE CHAPTER 11 -
As many of you know, Chapter 11, set to air on Dec. 3rd, is being redone so that it can act as a potential season finale, should they run out of written material. According to an article in TVGuide, "Originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc. Should an 11th-hour agreement be reached and a strike averted (fingers crossed!), the alt ending would likely be scrapped." As we now know, the strike was not averted, but perhaps it can be ended in time to keep the season intact?

Tim Kring has also apologized to fans for the shortcomings of season two, in a recent article for Entertainment Weekly, but promises a turnaround for the series. Tim also describes the alternate Chapter 11 as a way to give the series "a clean slate" for Volume 3. [Thank you, Fil, for sending this in.]

- GRAPHIC NOVELS -
We don't know for certain what will happen with the graphic novels but Jason Badower, one of the artists, has given us a bit of info in his blog:

"I was recently contacted, by my editor, Frank about doing a HEROES story. The script by Chuck (0.07%) Kim came through. It's called "The Ten Brides of Takezo Kensei" and it's a ripper of a story.

Unfortunately, due to the strike, Chuck asked that the script be pulled. Apparently he also had a specific artist friend of his in mind to draw it. That's a huge shame as I would have knocked this one out of the park. This one is so up my alley it's not funny. So when you do see it, you can try to imagine if I'd drawn/painted it.

But to answer your question, this script is set after the events of episode 11 (it specifically says so). So they've pulled the web comic episode that's set after the week of episode 11. I have no idea if the stories before it have been pulled. But now you know that is your thin red line as far as the HEROES graphic novels go."
- HEROES: EVOLUTIONS -
The impact of the strike on Heroes: Evolutions is, of course, of the utmost interest to us here at Heroes-Clues. Unfortunately, it is one of the biggest unknowns. Online content appears to be an important point of contention in the negotiations (the writers are looking for their fair cut in this growing medium), so things could definitely change. I will continue to update you as I hunt for info.

For now, let's all keep our fingers crossed that this strike ends soon.

"The Post Show" Trivia Contest - The Answers

I was waiting to post this when our winner confirmed his choice of prize, but it looks like we have a bit of a glitch... With 2 out of 3 attempts at contacting him bouncing back from a spam filter, I'm not sure our winner has received his notification.

So, if you entered the "The Post Show" Trivia Contest here at Heroes-Clues -- please check your spam filter! If you have received notification as our winner, please follow the instructions sent in the email. Remember that the contest rules require a response before the next Heroes chapter airs at 9pm EST on November 12th, otherwise a new winner will be selected.

Now, on to the correct answers from the Trivia Contest:

  • Q: Which guest was live in studio:
A: Tim Kring Jack Coleman Masi Oka
[While Jack Coleman did appear on the show via satellite, Tim Kring was the guest that was live in-studio for this show.]

  • Q: Which character did Tim say he could relate to most?
    A: Hiro Peter Sylar
[When asked to choose his favorite character, Tim Kring said that when the series began he could relate most to Peter.]

  • Q: What did Jack Coleman say that he found shocking?
    A: HRG/Noah Bennet shooting Ivan.
Claire pulling that dangerous prank with West.
The painting where HRG/Noah Bennet is dead.
[Jack Coleman said that he found it shocking that Noah Bennet would actually kill his former mentor (Ivan).]

We hope to announce our winner soon!
Just a reminder that Heroes-Clues would never send spam, so it's a good idea to add heroesclues@gmail.com and heroes360clues@gmail.com to your e-mail's "safe list."

New Major Heroes Spoiler on UGO

For those of you that are spoiler-junkies, there was a MAJOR Heroes spoiler posted on UGO today. Personally, I don't read spoilers (not that I don't pass the links on to you), so I can't confirm the details. I heard that this is HUGE, so please, don't discuss it outside the comments for this post.

So... for those of you who hide from spoilers (like myself), do NOT click this link, nor should you look at the comments for this post. The rest of you, enjoy.

ETA: I might as well feed those of you that are spoiler-hungry a bit more -- check out the comments of this post for the spoilers that were posted in the recent TV Guide, courtesy of J.R. Teeter.

A reminder: in general, this site remains spoiler-free -- so please avoid posting them in the comments of other posts. If you must, please clearly indicate it as a spoiler in advance.
