Puzzle at Cogitoergosum blog
Thanks to Mike for reporting about a fresh post at the Cogitoergosum blog (the blog which brought us a mysterious letter and postcard ) over at 9th Wonders. The new post presents us with a bit of a puzzle:
The playwright William Congreve said that "music has charms to soothe a savage breast. To soften rocks or bend a knotted oak." I myself was once tamed a long time ago. My favorite things are still in this past even as I'm being drawn to the present.
Show me you understand the things I hold dear...

Well, I looked it up, and the William Congreve (1670 - 1729) quote is from Act 1 Scene 1 of his play The Mourning Bride, from 1697.
Also, we learned that Drucker likes jazz, and one of the videos said that he likes Miles Davis.
I'm not a musician, though. Any other ideas about this puzzle??
It was the most recent Drucker video clip that mentioned that he went to see Miles Davis with Deveaux.
The last bit is referring to chords, but we don't know the key.
I wonder how/if all of these music references are connected to Drucker's wealth or his power.
You know, if you can determine the name of the song, and possibly the lyrics that are sung with those chords, you will have it.
Whatever Drucker likes, it's probably blues, related to that Miles guy and is another hint. What songs did Miles write during the time period that Drucker and Deveaux went clubbing together?
It may be the chord progression in the Miles Davis song "Blue in Green". Here are the lyrics to that song:
"Hues of blues and greens surround me
knowing you have found another love
has turned me world
to sorrow
Green with envy for another
fearing she may be the one to soar
through life with you, can't lose these
Hues of blues in green"
If this is the song, it may be hinted at Druckers lover/former-lover/crush again, just as the written letter did.
Perhaps part of the reason he hates the company so much is that he lost his love to another member?
Looks like wgsxfrank could be right, could be "Blue in Green"
What do we do next? Or is that the full point of the message?
And "green" could be related to Ireland? :P
look for references to works that share similarities between William Congreve and a jazz song
i have a feeling "things i hold dear" will be part of the lyrics to whatever song we're looking for. it's too oddly phrased to be tossed aside.
has anyone checked out these miles songs?
